The initial consultation and damp survey
Advanced damp begin all work with a damp survey to diagnose the issue before any work is estimated.
A damp survey is an essential step in addressing damp issues as it provides a comprehensive evaluation of the problem and its underlying causes. Here are the reasons and benefits of conducting a damp survey:
Identification of the source: A damp survey enables us to identify the source of damp, whether it’s rising damp, penetrating damp, condensation, or another issue. This information is crucial in determining the most effective solution to the problem.
Comprehensive evaluation: A damp survey includes a thorough examination of the property to determine the extent of the damp and any associated problems such as mould growth or decay. This allows us to provide a complete and accurate picture of the problem.
Tailored approach: With the information gathered from the damp survey, we can develop a customised solution that meets the specific needs of your property and addresses the root cause of the problem.
Cost savings: A damp survey can help to minimise the cost of repairs and treatment by ensuring that only necessary work is carried out. It also helps to prevent further damage and associated costs in the future.
Customer satisfaction: A damp survey provides transparency and peace of mind, enabling our clients to make informed decisions about their property and ensuring their complete satisfaction with the work carried out.
In conclusion, a damp survey is a critical step in addressing damp issues and provides numerous benefits, including a comprehensive evaluation of the problem, a tailored solution, cost savings, and customer satisfaction.
Our survey fee is £200 + VAT which is fully refundable against the final quote and will be returned on the completion of works.

Services and treatments offered
Rising damp:
Advanced Damp offers effective rising damp treatment solutions to protect your property from the damaging effects of damp. Our methods include the installation of damp-proof membranes and the use of specialised injections to create an impermeable barrier that prevents the upward movement of moisture. Our team of experts has extensive experience in rising damp treatment and will work with you to find the most appropriate solution for your property.
The treatment process for rising damp typically involves the following steps:
Assessment: A thorough assessment of the property is carried out to determine the extent of the rising damp and its underlying causes. This includes a visual inspection of the walls, floor, and roof, as well as testing for moisture levels.
Solution design: Based on the results of the assessment, a solution to the rising damp is designed. This includes selecting the appropriate materials and techniques to be used.
Preparation: Preparatory work is carried out to ensure that the walls are ready for treatment. This may include the removal of old plaster, cleaning, and the application of a surface-stabilising solution.
Application: The chosen damp-proofing solution is applied to the walls. This may involve the installation of a damp-proof membrane, the use of specialised injections, or a combination of both.
Decorative finishes: Once the damp proofing work is complete, the walls are prepared for redecoration. This is likely to include the application of a new waterproof render and breathable plaster finish.
The treatment process for rising damp is carried out by skilled and experienced professionals, who use the latest techniques and materials to provide effective and long-lasting solutions. Contact us for more information on our rising damp treatment services.
Penetrating Damp:
Solution design: Based on the results of the initial survey, a solution to the penetrating damp is designed. This includes selecting the appropriate materials and techniques to be used.
Repairs: Any structural repairs to the building’s exterior or roof may be necessary to stop the source of the penetrating damp. This may include the replacement of damaged roof tiles, the sealing of cracks in the building’s exterior, or the repair of damaged gutters and downpipes.
Application: The chosen damp-proofing solution is applied to the affected walls. This may involve the use of exterior waterproofing solutions such as Strormdry masonry paint, waterproof paint materials, external waterproof render repairs, membranes, or tanking solutions.
Basement waterproofing:
Solution design: Based on the results of the assessment, a solution to the basement waterproofing is designed. This includes selecting the appropriate materials and techniques to be used.
Excavation: If necessary, excavation is carried out to access the basement walls and floor. This is done to prepare the surface for the waterproofing treatment and to assess the condition of the foundation walls and floor.
Installation: The chosen waterproofing solution is installed, which may involve the use of specialised membrane systems, drainage systems, or the application of a waterproofing coating.
Once the waterproofing work is complete, the excavation is backfilled and the basement is ready for decoration. This could be new flooring or wall decorations.
Condensation:
Assessment: A thorough assessment of the property is carried out to determine the extent of the condensation problem and the underlying causes. This includes a visual inspection of the interior, as well as testing for humidity and moisture levels.
Solution design: Based on the results of the assessment, a solution to the condensation problem is designed. This includes selecting the appropriate materials and techniques to be used.
Ventilation: Improving ventilation is often the first step in treating condensation problems. This may involve installing extractor fans, full house PIV units, fitting vents, or applying anti condensation paints.
Insulation: Insulating the property is also important for reducing condensation. This may involve installing cavity wall insulation, loft insulation, or double glazing.
Heating: Improving heating systems and ensuring they are used efficiently can also help to reduce condensation. This may involve installing a new central heating system, upgrading radiators, or installing thermostatic controls.
Moisture reduction: Reducing moisture levels within the property is also important for treating condensation problems. This may involve using dehumidifiers, fixing leaks, or drying clothes outside.
