What Does a Damp Survey Involve?
A full damp survey is a methodical inspection of your property, inside and out, to establish what is really causing the moisture:

How long does a damp survey take?
A typical residential damp survey takes around one to two hours on site, depending on the size of the property and the extent of the problem. Larger or more complex properties take longer, and you receive the written report shortly afterwards.
Who pays for a damp survey?
It depends on the situation. A buyer often commissions one before purchase, a seller may arrange one to reassure buyers, and a landlord is responsible for arranging one where a tenant reports damp. Whoever books the survey usually pays for it, and with us that fee is deducted from any treatment that follows.
Does a Level 2 or homebuyer survey check for damp?
A standard Level 2 homebuyer survey will usually flag visible signs of damp and may recommend a further specialist inspection, but it does not provide a full diagnosis. A dedicated damp survey goes much further, identifying the exact cause and the correct treatment.
What is a damp and timber survey?
A damp and timber survey combines a damp inspection with a check of the property's timber for woodworm, dry rot and wet rot. Because damp and timber decay are closely linked, inspecting them together gives a complete picture of the property's condition.
